What a great week it has been. We were so busy this week. We had our first shared reading story, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. Throughout the week, we learned how good readers, predict, retell, make connections, discuss the problem and solution of the story and tell their opinion (their favorite part). Please discuss the work you see coming home with these shared reading activities.
In math, we started our first math journal where we searched for color and number words to help us understand the problem and then colored to figure out the answer. We have 10 problems in our journal so you will see these coming home next Friday. Be sure to have your child tell you how we work to solve the problem. We also practiced our counting skills and quick number identification by playing a game called skillboards with partners. Each partner had to find a representation of the number that Mrs. Thurman called (the numeral 2 and 2 dots)
We talked about emotions and gave examples of when we felt those emotions. We also discussed that it is okay to feel all the emotions and that at some point you will. The important thing we talked about was what your body did when you had those feelings (It's okay to be mad but not to hit someone if you are mad)
Next week, we will start learning our math center rotation and continue to reinforce our learning routines.
We will visit the Learning Commons for the first time on Tuesday at 8:15am.
Have a great weekend!
